X-Energy Raises $700 Million for Advanced Nuclear Reactor Design

(Bloomberg) —

X-Energy LLC, an advanced nuclear technology company backed by Amazon.com Inc., raised some $700 million from investors led by Jane Street Group to commercialize its small reactor. 

The oversubscribed Series D funding round included new investors ARK Invest and Corner Capital, as well as existing backers such as Ares Management and Emerson Collective, according to a statement Monday. 

X-Energy is part of a wave of companies seeking to commercialize the next wave of nuclear technology. It’s developing a small reactor that can be used to power factories and artificial intelligence, and the first deployments are expected to support a Dow Inc. chemical plant in Texas and Amazon data centers in Washington.
