ENVE Composites, a manufacturer specializing in bicycle components and wheels, has been “steadfast in our commitment to U.S. manufacturing” since 2007, when it produced its first wheel. The company has always produced components and equipment like rims and one-piece handlebars in the U.S., and in 2021, it took this dedication to the next level by introducing its Custom Road Bike, manufactured at its 80,000-square-foot headquarters in Ogden, Utah. By using a specific molding process, the company can “create a custom bike for virtually any fit. The result is a handcrafted, US-made bike, built especially for you.” The company partners with other American manufacturers to produce additional bike components, such as a premium headset called the AeroSet from Oregon-based Chris King Precision Components.
ENVE offers its custom-molded bike in two geometric forms: the Race for agility and responsiveness, and the All Road for stability and control on mixed surfaces. Stylistically, customers can use an online ‘Bike Builder’ to choose from four design templates featuring 38 colors or can opt for full custom paint by ENVE or one of their specialty bike paint shop partners. Jake Pantone, ENVE’s Vice President of Product and Brand, said, “We see that ENVE—as a carbon specialist and US manufacturer—has a great opportunity to deliver a bike that can compete with the best high-end frame models available while also delivering a high-touch personalized experience to our customers.”
Since 2021, ENVE has launched two other road bikes, the Melee and the Fray, and a gravel bike, the MOG.

With concept, design, research and development, testing, production, assembly, and customer support all taking place in Utah, the company explains this centralization speeds up processes: “Cutting molds for new concepts takes days instead of months, and adjustments to laminates are made in real time. This complete control over our production means we can rapidly refine prototypes and iterate on designs, bringing a new product to market with dozens, sometimes even hundreds, of rapid improvements.”
Plus, because the company owns its manufacturing processes and conducts them in-house, it builds products on demand rather than maintaining large inventories. “This approach not only minimizes waste but also enables us to offer a broad selection of options,” ENVE notes. This approach yields better environmental outcomes and delivers a better customer experience: “We strive to deliver the perfect product for every customer, and this dynamic approach is key to that promise.”

While the company acknowledges that “outsourcing might reduce costs on paper,” it asserts that “it wouldn’t match the quality and innovation we achieve when every detail is carefully controlled.” The company is committed to producing reliable products: “Every ENVE product is built with the same obsession for innovation and excellence. If it wears the ENVE name, it’s the best it can be—because you deserve nothing less.” ENVE is so confident that it offers a limited lifetime warranty that extends indefinitely for original owners on components, frames, and rims, and for shorter periods on apparel, bearings, hub internals, and paint.
Moreover, ENVE partners with world-renowned athletes and teams who push “products to their limits under the toughest conditions. Every race is a proving ground, ensuring our wheels and components deliver unmatched durability and performance.” Beyond improving the products, such collaborations benefit the sport as a whole. Through the ENVE Gravel Development Program, the company prepares high school-age athletes for professional gravel racing, involving a ‘gravel camp,’ training programs, and mentorship from American cyclist Alexey Vermeulen. “For me, as well as many of my partners, spending money and resources on younger riders will provide the best chance at success — both for the athletes and the companies,” Vermeulen explained. “Gravel is unique, but I think the next hard step is making sure we are focused on the future of the sport right now — not just who’s winning.”

ENVE also ensures that no matter where customers reside, they have access to local support with ENVE Ride Center locations. By 2022, the company had partnered with about 60 retailers with strong reputations in local cycling communities across the country, which represent “the core values of our brand when it comes to quality, selection, service, and expertise.” These local businesses not only offer the latest ENVE products but also tailored offerings designed to meet the needs and preferences of local biking culture. Overall, ENVE works closely with these businesses to keep them stocked and ready to serve local bikers. National Sales Manager Mike Kowalski described, “It’s a symbiotic relationship for both ENVE and the shop. We’re here to support those dealers that are supporting us.”
ENVE’s presence in Utah expands beyond its Ogden factory. Their ENVE Ride Centers include Biker’s Edge in Kaysville, Bountiful Bicycle Center in Woods Cross, Competitive Cyclist in Salt Lake City, Contender Bicycles in both Salt Lake City and Park City, Hangar 15 Bicycles in both Salt Lake City and Draper, and Rapid Cycling Bike Shop in St. George.
“Handmade is core to who we are,” the company explains, especially for “the 150 employees that come into our Ogden, Utah, facility every day.” Oscar, a layup operator who has produced rims at ENVE for two decades, “realized I had talent with my hands,” and tens of thousands of rims later, reflected, “The only way to live the dream is to work hard.” Ashley, a decal technician, added, “I love creating something that I know is going to bring happiness to someone out there. We all have the same goal, and that’s to deliver the best product that we possibly can.”
