Pizza lovers in Australia and Singapore will soon get their pepperoni and anchovy pizza delivered on a new fleet unit. With 3,800 franchises in 12 markets, Domino’s Pizza Enterprises will roll out the new dxb pizza delivery bike. This wildly innovative two-wheeled vehicle has an oven attached to the rear wheel to warm the food. Domino’s says they are going “where no pizza company has gone before.”
The announcement originated from Singapore on Nov. 16, 2023. The technical details of the bike were laid out in the press release, saying the shock absorbers are close to a fighter jet’s, the oven is fan-forced, and the bike was some of the smoothest riding around.
The oven can reach 164 degrees Fahrenheit, or 68 degrees Celcius, perfect for keeping pizza warm. It will arrive at customer doors hot and ready.

“We are constantly seeking ways to elevate our delivery and customer experience,” Michael Chick, CEO of Domino’s Pizza Singapore and Cambodia, said in the press release. “We know that it is also a food industry issue where customers often compromise on the quality of food for delivery convenience.
We are thrilled that our latest Domino’s innovation will enable our customers to enjoy the freshest pizza dining experience in our store but in the comfort of their homes.”
Singapore is the testing ground for the dxb’s viability in large urban settings. Domino’s Pizza Enterprises’ global reach is broad, with stores across the Netherlands, Japan, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Australia, France, Taiwan region, Malaysia, Singapore, and Cambodia. The goal is to bring more zero-emission delivery options to these countries.
In the pizza game, getting customers their orders is paramount. Crowded city streets are terrible when it comes to meeting this goal. Gridlock and traffic slow things down while contributing to the air pollution problem. The dxb combats congestion and emissions problems.
In the U.S., Domino’s launched a national e-bike delivery program, testing efficiency in New York, Houston, and Miami before the announcement in August 2019. The results proved fruitful, showing that they expanded delivery capabilities usually confined to cars. More workers can use the bikes, meaning more orders are fulfilled on time. The success of the test programs saw hundreds of bikes in 2019 at corporate-owned stores in Miami, Salt Lake City, Baltimore, and Houston.

New York City has figured out how to implement e-bike delivery successfully and efficiently. Many delivery app workers travel by electric two-wheeled vehicle or scooter because they can weave through traffic and take side streets. Utilizing bike lanes also speeds up the time that would be wasted in the car.
However, we likely won’t see the dxb in the U.S. for a while. The company’s Australia-based Domino’s Pizza Enterprises was the force behind this bike. But, the door isn’t closed on the possibility of it coming to American cities.
The online reaction has been great so far. “The dxb is, by far, the coolest purpose-built delivery electric bike in the pizza game right now,” Electrek’s Micah Tool wrote. “I love what they’ve made, but it also doesn’t mean you need to go over the top like this to do bike-based deliveries.”
With carbon neutrality at the forefront, Domino’s Pizza Inc., the brand’s owner, has set climate targets for 2050 aligned with the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) outlined at COP26 two years ago. Parts of the global company’s operations — the Domino’s Pizza Group in the U.K. and Ireland and Domino’s Pizza Enterprises in Australia — have drawn up verified science-based targets to cut their emissions.
These efforts mean more sustainable initiatives must be implemented to reduce its footprint. E-bikes, as well as electric vehicle integration, are a part of the strategy. It will be interesting to see what else Domino’s has in store next.
